LANDMINE MARATHON: 'Shadows Fed To Tyrants' Video Released
July 6, 2010"Shadows Fed To Tyrants", the new video from Phoenix, Arizona's death metal/grind titans LANDMINE MARATHON, can be viewed below. The clip was shot in the band's hometown with director David Brodsky (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, GWAR, GOATWHORE) and will be available for purchase exclusively through iTunes starting on July 13.
LANDMINE MARATHON recently collaborated with filmmaker Brian Taylor, co-writer/director of "Crank, Crank: High Voltage" and "Gamer", amongst others, on a version of its song "Skin From Skull", with Taylor providing lead guitar solos. The track is being offered as a free exclusive download from Taylor's web site.
Taylor commented on the collaboration: "I saw LANDMINE at a show in L.A. last year and they turned my guts to jelly. Grace Perry [vocals] is a beast from hell.
"When I found out they were 'Crank' fans, I knew we had to get something going...
"My approach to 'Skin From Skull' was simple: just fucking shred.
"Grace's vocals peel the skin off your face — the solo should do the same. Straight up the ass."
LANDMINE MARATHON guitarist Ryan Butler added: "It was so awesome to have Brian Taylor do a solo over 'Skin From Skull'.
"The 'Crank' movies are insane and I am looking forward to seeing 'Jonah Hex', as I'm a total comic dork.
"He definitely brought the shred on this solo! It was really cool to hear something that I probably never would've come up with over it."
"Shadows Fed To Tyrants" comes off LANDMINE MARATHON's latest album, "Sovereign Descent", which was released on March 16 on Prosthetic Records. The cover art was handled by acclaimed artist Dan Seagrave, who's done covers for acts such as ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, MORBID ANGEL, SUFFOCATION and many more.
"Sovereign Descent" was recorded at guitarist Ryan Butler's Arcane Digital Recording Studios, where he's recorded past efforts from the band, as well as MISERY INDEX, PHOBIA, THE FUNERAL PYRE and many more. The album was mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music (CONVERGE, HATEBREED, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN) in New Windsor, New York.
LANDMINE MARATHON, whose sound has been compared to early Earache acts such as BOLT THROWER, CARCASS, and NAPALM DEATH, released two full-lengths on Level Plane, "Wounded" and "Rusted Eyes Awake", the latter which was reissued in late 2009 by Prosthetic Records and several split releases.
